We have been following the development of the Divine Academy School in Kampala for the past two years. Recently the construction of a third classroom block has been started thanks to a generous donor from Switzerland, whilst in the UK a church from Hebburn has provided the money to buy some more school furniture. The last batch was school desks for the children. This batch is desks and chairs is for the teachers but the children are just as delighted.
The land for this school was reclaimed from a swamp. The School director spotted the opportunity and obtained the land at a good (low/reasonable) price. Once the school proved that the area could be built on safely all the surrounding land has been taken on every side as this residential suburb of Kampala develops. The school has targetted the children who are not from rich families and is growing with each new years intake.
