Mama Jane's Children's Centre

Mama Jane Children Care Centre is a Charitable Non-Government Organization that was established in 1983 by an African Woman Known as Ms Jane Babirye(R.I.P) who saw a great need to help the African Children after the effects of the liberation wars, within which many children lose parents and become homeless.

Mama Janes Children Care Centre provides a home, shelter, education and an environment of love and care which aims to equip children with valuable life skills. The home built a clinic so as to address the issue of children falling sick and a lack of access to hospitals in the community. With a clinic sick children can be isolated and treated, the only challenge being the continuous provision of basic medicine.

The Home not only provides services to the children but it also has an animal farm at Mpumudde which equips the grown up children with the skills of rearing animals and also providing the children with milk so they can have a balanced diet on addition to the meals provided.

Similarly a multitude of projects are within the home, the tailoring project is one of the oldest projects in the Home, simple hand skills are vital and useful for the African child. Afrinspire particularly became involved in the provision of Computers, bridging the digital divide and advancing the childrens skill set into the modernised era. Through Afrinspire Mama Jane's received enough computers to establish a computer lab, a rare commodity for the poor in Africa. As in the modern era computer lessons are a necessity in the current Job market in Uganda and the world at large. Therefore being a great advantage for the children.
