Iringa Agriculture Training

Iringa Agriculture Training is an initiative supported by Afrinspire that has seen the valuable work of Paul Kyalimpa's SAFI Sustainable Agriculture expanded into Iringa in Tanzania. Paul took his expertise and training in sustainable agriculture to Iringa in August 2011 thanks to Afrinspire funding made possible by the generosity of one of our donors.

Pastors in the Ruaha Diocese in the Central Highlands of Tanzania formed the Wanaruasha Agricultural Cooperative, to supplement their low incomes by growing food for their families and cash crops to sell. SAFI's training in the area involved lectures, discussion groups, visits to the diocesan farms and a practical demonstration of the water-retaining characteristics of various soil types. Paul reported that the pastors were keen to learn and that the training was found to be very valuable.
